ေမ်ာက္တို့ သဘာ၀ The Monkey Experience

ငွက္ေပ်ာသီး၊ ေလွကား၊ ေရခဲေရ၊ ေမ်ာက္မ်ားႏွင့္ က်ေနာ္တို႔ ရဲ႕ မူရင္းလို႔ ယူဆရတဲ့ စာပုဒ္ကို အင္တာနက္ထဲ လမ္းသလားရင္း ေတြ႕မိတာေၾကာင့္ ေကာ္ပီကူးၿပီး ျပန္တင္ေပးလိုက္ပါတယ္။
Three monkeys are placed in a large cage. Experimenters put in a banana on a string above the monkey’s reach. Every time a monkey makes an attempt to get the banana, all three monkeys are sprayed with cold water. After a little bit (and a lot of cold water), the experimenters put away the water hose. Now, each time a one monkey jumps up and tries to get the banana, the other two beat the living hell out of the jumper. Finally, all of the monkeys finally get smart and stop trying and just sit there. The banana hangs over their head, and none of them go for it.
The experimenters then bring in a new monkey from a different room. They exchange the new monkey for one of the monkeys in the cage. The new monkey looks around, sees the two other monkeys, but is more interested in the food hanging slightly overhead. He thinks, “Hey, cool. A banana.” He jumps up for the banana, then gets the piss beat out of him by the two originals (those cynical bastards). “Why,” this new monkey thinks, “are they doing this to me? In the real world, wouldn’t it make sense to go for free food? Isn’t that normal?” But this new monkey quickly decides that the food is not worth getting beat up. So the three monkeys sit in the cage, scratching their butts and not doing a whole lot.
The experimenters, after a few minutes, decide to bring in another new monkey. They put him in the cage and take out one of the original three. Now there are two new monkeys, and only one original left. The newest monkey sees the goods overhead, and makes a go for it, only to find that this action is not acceptable in this cage. After getting kicked around for a while, he stops going for the banana, and the monkeys resume doing nothing in the cage. The banana swings dauntingly overhead.
Just for kicks, the experimenters bring in another new monkey and exchange him for the last original monkey. Almost right away, he goes for the food-on-a-string and gets beat up by the other two monkeys. Those two monkeys have no idea why they are beating the crap out of this other monkey, but that’s the way they learned things, and by God, that’s how things are going to be done in this cage. And so this cycle continues-with each new monkey, the tradition of beating is passed on for any attempt made for the food swinging overhead.
And so it is here at USAFA – with each new class, the previous and older classes beat the hell out of the new guys, either physically or mentally or whatever just because the new guys are trying to be normal. Being normal at the Academy is simply unacceptable and deserves punishment. The upper classes don’t know why they beat the living hell out of the lower classes, but they continue to do what they do because that’s just the way things are done.
